new Apple MacBook

According to rumors websites, new MacBook will be release very soon. At this moment we call the new one “MacBook Brick” and the target release date could be 14th of this month.

The rumor is about a not yet announced Apple new product release conference. It is predicted that Apple will release their latest McBook series base on Intel Centrino 2 CPU but not with Intel clipset. It is also rumor that Apple built a new factory on their own and making the new MacBook case with state of the art technologies like 3D Laser, water metal cutting machines and using whole block of aircraft grade aluminum brick to make the MacBook case.

The MacBook manufacturing process up to this point has been outsourced to Chinese or Taiwanese manufacturers like Foxconn. Now Apple is in charge. The company has spent the last few years building an entirely new manufacturing process that uses lasers (w/o sharks) and jets of water to carve the MacBooks out of a brick of aluminum.

On the other hand, the rumor also state that the new MacBook will be using Nvidia’s clipset and display card: MCP7A-U

MCP7A-U is the top class chipset in the MCP7A family. Though it could be named as GeForce 9XXX, it will be come the first mainstream uATX mobo with DDR3-1333 support. Sources inform us the MCP7A-U will be the “fastest mGPU”, but who knows.”

Meanwhile, an industrial designer disagree with the rumor and said that “applying such process to a notebook-sized device would be much more expensive than traditional manufacturing and it’s unlikely that it will literally be a hollowed out block of aluminum”.

Other than rumors, Apple did released some info about their new MacBook:

  • Weeks ago when Intel just announced the new Centrino 2 platform, Apple spokesman said that: Apple would continue using Intel CPU but with completely new design that other competitors difficult to catch up
  • A while ago when Apple release their good results of iPhone 3G sale, their spokesman said that: the most distinctive features of the new MacBooks are “very thin aluminum casing, an LED-backlit display and an aggressive entry-level price point.”

For users, low price is always the most attractive point, we really hope that Apple would fulfill their “aggressive entry-level price point” statement.
